On the afternoon of June 15, 2022, the review meeting for the "Construction Atlas of Metal Enclosure Systems for Steel Structure Buildings", jointly edited by Shaanxi HB Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. and China Qiyuan Engineering Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., was successfully held.
This review meeting was organized and chaired by the Standard Design Station of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. The expert group was led by Yang Qi, Chief Engineer and Professor-level Senior Engineer of China Northwest Architectural Design & Research Institute, and included Professor Ma Jianxun of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Yan Weiheng of Chang'an University, Professor-level Senior Engineer Zhong Weimin of Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology Architectural Design Institute, Professor-level Senior Engineer Zhi Jianmin of China Northwest Architectural Design & Research Institute, Professor-level Senior Engineer Yang Xiaoping of Xi'an Architectural Design Institute, and Professor-level Senior Engineer Li Cunliang of Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group. The chief editors of the editorial board also participated in the review meeting.
At the meeting, the Standard Design Station of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Construction introduced the meeting agenda and the participating representatives. Pang Shidong, representing the editorial committee of HB Construction, reported to the expert group on the background, compilation process, solicitation and processing results of opinions, and the problems solved by the atlas in building construction. The expert group listened carefully to the compilation team's introduction of the atlas and exchanged views on key technical issues and practical applications. They also put forward valuable opinions and suggestions for further improvement of the atlas, changing the title of "New Construction Atlas of Metal Enclosure and Floor System for Steel Structure Buildings" to "Construction Atlas of Metal Enclosure System for Steel Structure Buildings".
After questioning and review by the participating experts, the expert group concluded that the compilation of this atlas is innovative in its use of QR code information technology for the first time, which facilitates its promotion and application and provides technical support for the application of new structural designs for metal enclosure systems of steel structure buildings in our province. The expert group unanimously agreed that the atlas passed the review.
This atlas is applicable to steel structure industrial and civil buildings, containing 425 nodes and 178 QR codes. Utilizing BIM technology, the atlas allows for dynamic rotation and display, providing a direct understanding of hierarchical relationships and clearly showing the form of each component. It features four key characteristics: integration of architecture and structure, construction and design, compilation and discussion, and CAD and BIM. The atlas aims to solve common engineering problems, improve the construction details of steel structure building nodes, and provide design and technical support for the industry.
The atlas project was initiated in December 2020, and an editorial board composed of several steel structure experts was established in January 2021. We thank all editorial board members for their tireless efforts, sacrificing their rest time to attend 53 seminars over weekends, and for maintaining their focus during the pandemic by discussing and revising the atlas via video conference. After the initial draft was completed, we visited design institutes and consulted experts. With the support of all experts, editorial board members, and participating organizations, the atlas was successfully completed. We once again thank all editorial board members, relevant experts, and participating organizations.
