BIM Assists Steel Structure Atlas

Digital and information technologies are quietly changing the world. To better serve steel structure buildings in Shaanxi, the steel structure atlas integrates new technologies and leverages BIM to empower the atlas. On March 27, 2021, the fifth compilation seminar of the "New Construction Atlas of Metal Enclosures and Floor Systems for Steel Structure Buildings" was held at HB Construction. The atlas editorial committee invited Cui Peng, director of the BIM Center of Xi'an Construction Engineering Green Building Group, to serve as the chief editor of the BIM section, contributing his wisdom and experience to the atlas.

BIM (Building Information Modeling) is a tool for achieving 3D visualization in engineering management. It is based on 3D design concepts and uses information such as component information, project quality, schedule, and cost in an engineering project as models.

BIM technology is not merely a 3D visualization tool; its core lies in refining, summarizing, applying, and updating the concepts, technologies, practices, and experiences of the construction industry through information technology, ultimately improving work efficiency and creating economic benefits. Looking to the present and the future, BIM technology can be used to showcase 3D models of roofs, walls, and floors, analyze new node structures, and contribute to steel structure atlases.
